Giulia Giovani

Giulia Giovani received her PhD in 2012 at the Rome University of Tor Vergata with a dissertation on the dissemination of the cantata in printed sources in Italy. From 2012 to 2014 she was granted scholarships from the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice (Antonio Vivaldi Institute) and from the German Historical Institute in Rome; in 2013 she took part as researcher in the «Printed Sacred Music in Europe» project.

Since December 2015 she is researcher at the Hochschule der Künste in the project Creating the Neapolitan Canon. Music and music theory between Paris and Naples in the early nineteenth century. Meanwhile, she is adjunct professor in Modern and contemporary music history and Fundaments of music at the University of Siena, and coordinator in the international project «Clori. The Archive of the Italian Cantatas».
