Katelyn Rose King
A native of Atlanta, Georgia USA (*1992), Katelyn Rose King is working in the fields of music, theatre and everywhere in-between. Katelyn’s triptych artistic practice embodies three sectors, with the performative center framed by creation and research. Her main artistic interests involve role-shifting and unique creative processes in new music and independent new music theatre.
Katelyn is a founding member of Ensemble Aabat, a new music theatre ensemble based in Bern, Switzerland; her percussive performance collaborations can be seen on the stages of Deutsches Theater Berlin, Burgtheater Vienna, Städtische Bühne Frankfurt, Theater Basel and Stadttheater Bern.
Katelyn is currently a doctoral candidate in cultural sciences and aesthetic communication at Hildesheim University, with a research focus of collaborative working processes in new music theatre. She has a Master in Composition and Theory in Théatre Musical from the Hochschule der Künste Bern (CH, 2017), a Master in Music Performance from McGill University (CA, 2015), and a Bachelor in Music Performance from Kennesaw State University (USA, 2013).
